Healing Addictions Podcast Episode 1

Hello! I recorded my first couple episodes of Healing Addictions. The episodes are available on Apple Podcast and I will post them here as a blog post as well. This is a general rendition of the episode and it’s message.

Hi, this is Victoria with holistic recovery services. This is episode one of the podcast for Healing Addictions. I want this first episode to really just describe what this podcast is going to be about, the population that it's intended for and and. Just, you know, share whether this is right for you or whether this is gonna be helpful for you.

So the people's population that really I feel will benefit and and there's possible that there's more that could benefit as well, but is for people that are either struggling with substance use. Or alcohol use. Or have other addictions like sex shopping, things like that. Food even, and also for people that are in recovery, people that have not used in a year or months and are looking to advance their recovery to the next level. This is also for people that have been in recovery for 10 or more years and they're Just bored. Or they're struggling to to find purpose or they're struggling to feel like recovery is all the excitement that you know we hoped it would be and, the happiness, right?

If we're still struggling with triggers and you’re still struggling with stress and, and you know, you’re in recovery and afraid of relapse, we're afraid of, you know, taking a wrong turn even for a second, then this is for you. Because You know that place of always having an addiction. Always. Even if we’re in recovery, we feel we will always be an addict and always struggle with addiction. The messages that we get from AA and NA about addiction never going away, that we will always struggle with it, that we always need to attend meetings. This is the only way to do it is to to be committed to this program and plan, that's just false that is you know maybe that's for some people and and it's about 33% that's you know take that seriously. And it works for them and there is 2/3 of us that don't, and it doesn't work for us and there is nothing wrong with that and even people that are in AA and NA and it seems to work. But maybe there's just doesn't seem something right about the idea that you're stuck with this addiction for the rest of your life, that you're stuck with having to do meetings and things because there is no other way. You are able to heal addictions, and it's possible.

And so if if you're ready, if you wanna learn how to to do that and you wanna learn the the ways to heal addiction, then listen. Listen to this podcast. Because this podcast is about all holistic methods and healing and it's about finding that Place in our Wellness where triggers aren't even there anymore, where the thought of even being triggered isn't a trigger for use. It's a learning moment. It's it's an opportunity to to learn about where we can grow and where where else we can heal. Being in recovery. A lot of. In my experience, anyway, a lot of my time was spent being afraid of slacking in this area and not doing well enough here because I was afraid of relapse, I was afraid of slipping. I was afraid of going back to that old pattern and what happened when I found energy healing and holistic healing is that I no longer am running. I'm no longer afraid of that. I'm just growing and I enjoy growing and I enjoy being healthier. I enjoy happiness. I take joy and joy itself and that's not something I could do because at any moment, you know if I'm happy and I'm not paying attention to the choices I'm making, then I could be making choices that are bringing me closer to a relapse. So when I broke free from that, it was like breaking free from chains from an anchor that held me down and and what I discovered is that became my identity, me being in recovery was my identity that I lived with.

“I'm always gonna be in recovery. I'm always gonna have to watch out for choices I make and situations I put myself in. And I'm always gonna have to make sure I'm doing myself care. I can't slip at this. I gotta make sure that all my coping skills are are working and that I'm doing coping skills when I need them and that just, That was just not a life that felt good and felt exciting and felt, you know, it was it's heavy. It's heavy and it weighed a lot. And and this new wave, this new perspective of healing addictions. I broke free from the anchors of that, and I created a new identity/ One that addiction wasn't part of it. I Simply was coping before and I don't have to live that way anymore and I don't have to live. Surviving and coping. I can thrive. And as a coach and therapist I offer that to my clients and and I bring this perspective of healing addictions to anyone that is open to receiving it. And so I hope to see you on the next episode and reach out.
